YOUTH

We recognise the unique challenges and that our youth encounter daily. From navigating health and wellbeing concerns to shaping their future prospects. We are here to advocate, support, and empower. Our mission is clear: to create a safe haven where children and young adults can thrive. Through collaboration with residents and other stakeholders, we are dedicated to providing unwavering support to young people, parents and caregivers. Together, we will foster an environment that encourages youth empowerment and growth. But we do not stop there. We are committed to bridging the gap between parents, schools, and law enforcement, forging stronger connections that benefit our entire community.

MAY 2024

Employability event

The Youth Employability Workshop on Saturday 4th May 2024 was a great success. We had a great turnout of the youth from the local community who engaged on the event. The Youth Puzzle Organisation, who we collaborated with for this event, made it very interactive and engaging for the attendees. The workshop encouraged the youth to work in small groups and come up with solutions together before feeding back to the rest of the room. The session provided insight and advice into different vocational and educational opportunities, from entrepreneurship, jobs, higher education, and beyond. We really enjoyed the workshop and the educational nature of the session and hope to see another session at the White City Community Centre.

APR 2022

Youth Showcase project

The inaugural Youth Showcase was a resounding success, celebrating the vibrant talent of Wormholt and White City's youth. Through captivating exhibits and insightful discussions, attendees explored the theme of growing up in our community. The collaboration with @photojournalism_hub resulted in a poignant photography exhibition, while @urbanflyersuk's documentary delved deep into the experiences and aspirations of our young residents. @girls_create_a_vibe's interactive tapestry engaged visitors, fostering creativity and community spirit. Special thanks to @barlbyprimaryschool for their generous equipment donation and to Laura and Fr Richard at @ourladyoffatima_whitecity for their hospitality. Let's continue to empower and support our local youth!

AUG 2021

The Margate summer trip

The Margate summer trip offered an affordable opportunity for a delightful excursion. By fostering better links with the community, the trip aimed to increase visibility and involvement while generating excitement for the upcoming festival. Inspired by the overwhelming response to a recent trip to Bournemouth, where 232 individuals signed up, we (W12Together) were determined to build trust among local families. Emphasising safety, the trip offered a secure environment for children and young people from diverse backgrounds to come together, fostering understanding and positive relationships between residents and the w12together initiative. It served as a testament to the commitment to create inclusive spaces where families could bond and create lasting memories.

In the heart of every young person lies the potential for greatness.
